My Brooklyn based Sketchbook Project !

June 19, 2017

Check out my submission for the Brooklyn Museum Sketchbook!

My sketchbook is a synthesis of the concept of beauty and the depiction of power in society. It was cathartic for me to fill the pages of this blank book with concepts I have developed over the years as an artist. it is a reminder that the hardship you were borne of and endure in life is not your weakness, but your strength; it is a testament to your survival.

The antlers of a stag, known as the King and protector of the Forest, are a seamless blend of strength and power symbolic of cultural mores. The stag is the King of the Forest. This honoured animal is a protector of other creatures. However, history tells us Kings are tyrants. My sketchbook explores this paradox. It illustrates flaws in collective beliefs and demonstrates how power can be abused. A battle against an unforgiving opponent.
